Interlaken is located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz (this is actually where its name stems from: inter=between lacus=lake), surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Bernese Alps. It's the perfect starting point for all-level hike- or bike-tours. Adrenaline-junkies will be in heaven, as the Jungfrau region offers everything from hanggliding, climbing, river-rafting to canyoning or bungee-jumping.
Just check out the list below. It is intended to give you a first idea of how to spend an commemorative holiday with us. Our team will gladly assist you in creating an unforgettable holiday programme.
The Jungfraujoch is probably the most famous excursion destination in the Bernese Oberland and Switzerland in general. The highest railway station in Europe is located in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Aletsch Glacier and offers a wonderful view of Europe's longest glacier stream, the Ice Palace, the Sphinx Viewpoint, a museum, the Lindt chocolate shop and much more.
After a 32-minute ride with the cable car from the Stechelberg valley station, you reach the summit of the Schilthorn. Enjoy the view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and over 200 other mountain peaks. (James) Bond World, revolving restaurant.
The area above Beatenberg is home to one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Switzerland. It is a paradise for hikers, but also ideal for families. The scooter descent from the middle to the valley station is not only an adventure for children.
The Jungfrau Railways take you to the most famous points in the Jungfrau region: up to the Harder, the Schynige Platte, to Grindewald, Lauterbrunnen and Wengen, and up to the world-famous Jungfraujoch. Please note the special multi-day passes and offers for children.
The valley station of Interlaken's local mountain can be reached from the hotel on foot or by public transport in a short time. With the funicular you can reach the summit and the restaurant in a few minutes. Enjoy the spectacular view of the »Bödeli« and the Bernese Alps. During the summer months, a sunset ride is offered (see timetable).
Lean back and let the picturesque landscape pass you by on a boat trip on the green waters of Lakes Thun and Brienz. This excursion can be wonderfully combined with a visit to the wood-carving village of Brienz and the Ballenberg Museum. Or you can spend a few hours shopping in Thun.
Waterfalls inside the mountain, accessible by lift and paved trails. The force of the water is impressive, the natural spectacle of fountains and light enchanting. A popular programme even in bad weather.
Delta flying provides unforgettable impressions not only for the adventurous. The feeling of flying is indescribable, the bird's-eye view of the Bernese Oberland is almost secondary.
