Interlaken and surroundings
Interlaken is located between Lake Thoune and Lake Brienz (this is actually where its name stems from: inter=between lacus=lake), surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Bernese Alps. It's the perfect starting point for all-level hike- or bike-tours. Adrenaline-junkies will be in heaven, as the Jungfrau region offers everything from hanggliding, climbing, river-rafting to canyoning or bungee-jumping.
Just check out the list below. It is intended to give you a first idea of how to spend an commemorative holiday with us. Susanne, Bettina and their team will gladly assist you in creating an unforgettable holiday programme.
Schilhorn - Piz Gloria
After a 32-minute ride on the aerial cableway starting in Stechelberg you will arrive on the Schilthorn. Enjoy the unsurpassed view on Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (Unesco World Heritage) and more than 200 moutain peaks.
(James) Bond World, revolving restaurant
The Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe - is the highlight of any Swiss holiday. The highest railway station in Europe is located 3,454 metres above sea level. The visitors gain access to a high-Alpine wonderland of ice, snow and rock, which they can admire from the viewing platforms on the Aletsch Glacier or in the Ice Palace .
The area just above Beatenberg has one of the most beautiful hiking-trails in Switzerland. It's a hiker's heaven with its »Beatus Trail« also suitable for families. The scooter-ride from the mid- to the bottom-station is big fun for everyone!
The Jungfrau Railways is the largest mountain railway company in Switzerland. It takes you to almost all scenic points in the Jungfrau region: up to Mount Harder (Interlaken's local vistapoint), to Schynige Platte, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and all the way up to the Jungfraujoch.
Please ask for special season tickets or reductions for children.
The station of Interlaken's local mountain can easily be reached on foot or by public transport. Within a few minutes the funicular takes you to the peak, from where you can marvel at Interlaken and the lakes lying at your feet from the newly-built skywalk.
One of our favourites: During summer you can enjoy special sunset tours. Please check out the train schedule.
With your guestcard you will receive a 50% discount.
With its ten glacial water falls inside the mountain, made accessible by tunnel lift, the Trümmelbach Falls are truly unique in Europe. Our suggestion for a rainy day (you'll get a bit wet anyway ...)
Hang-gliding is the purest and most intensive way to fly! Come and feel the dynamics and the speed of a hang-glider and cruise around over Interlaken.
Ballenberg Open Air Museum
Switzerland as it used to be: The Open-Air Museum Ballenberg, a paradise for families, covers an area of 163 acres. It is not only interesting for adults, but great fun for children too. There is so much to do here: for example, make friends with the 250 farm animals, have a ride on the old carousel and try out our playground and some traditional toys. You can discover how our great-grandparents lived, watch fascinating displays of handcrafts and in the «hands-on-house» feel free to touch whatever you like. Welcome to the complete family experience Ballenberg!
Enchanted landscapes, mighty dams, challenging suspension bridges: That's the Grimselwelt!
St. Beatus Caves
In the immediate vicinity of Interlaken the St. Beatus Caves reach into the imposing massif of the Niederhorrn. Our suggestion for a rainy day.
